Impact on the area surrounding the works

The School and its chosen contractors will do everything to minimise the impact of the works on the surrounding environment as they proceed. As parts of the southern campus will continue to function while works proceed, the emphasis on health and safety for all those using the site or in its vicinity will be even higher than usual.

More details on what these impacts will be and how they will be minimised will become clear as the planning process develops, and will be posted here.

When works get underway, this website will also be regularly updated to give advance warning of specific events that may have an impact on those on and around the campus.

Impact on facilities provision for pupils and public

While enabling works will begin on-site in summer 2017, work on the sports facilities themselves will not begin before the summer of 2018 at the earliest. Access to the PE Centre, swimming pool and courts will continue as normal up until that time.

  • Pupils: in the period between now and summer 2018 the School will be drawing up plans and making arrangements to ensure that the maximum provision of indoor sporting activities is available throughout the lifetime of the project. This is expected to be achieved through a combination of temporary facilities being established elsewhere on the school campus, and the use of third-party facilities. The School is confident that most sports can continue to be supported during this period, and it will communicate directly with parents regarding arrangements in due course.
  • Community access: access for those members of the public who currently use School facilities will be temporarily suspended during the works. As much advance warning as possible will be given nearer the time. Members of the public that use School indoor sporting facilities will of course share in the benefits of the completed project. More information will be posted on this website in due course.
