Why is the Development Taking Place?

  • Buildings no longer fit for purpose
  • Indoor sports have evolved greatly in 50 years
  • Growth in pupil numbers
  • More efficient use of site

When built in the 1960s, our PE Centre with its swimming pool was considered a shining example of school indoor sports facilities. Over time, pupil numbers have grown and the current buildings are now no longer fit for the extensive sports programme which the School provides. The current Design & Technology building (Mill) is also no longer suitable for modern teaching methods in Technology, whilst the sanatorium would benefit from being more centrally located. Overall the buildings no longer meet the needs of the School and its pupils and are inefficient to run. The School therefore plans to embark on the modernisation of the southern campus so as to meet its long-term future needs.
