The Development Team

Who is Involved?

Winchester CollegeThe Governing Body of Winchester College proposed the scheme. The objective is for the school to make the best use of its existing buildings while remaining sensitive both to their residential and commercial neighbours and to the school’s location as a distinct part of Winchester’s Conservation Area. Within the main area of the campus the school is custodian of over 100 listed buildings, nine of which are Grade I listed. The Governing Body also recognises the importance of the wider campus as an integral part of Winchester’s historic fabric and heritage. www.winchestercollege.org

Design Engine ArchitectsDesign Engine is an award-winning architectural practice. Their Winchester-based studio has been sculpting award-winning, dynamic and sustainable architecture since 2000. Extensive analysis of the southern campus context and topography has been used to develop an architecture that is appropriate in scale and context to this unique site. Whilst undoubtedly modern in style, Design Engine draws inspiration from the past in both form and materiality, to create a building which is sympathetic to its context. www.designengine.co.uk
